Winery in organic cultivation
in Zellenberg in Alsace.
At Zellenberg, at the heart of the Alsatian grand crus, the Jean Becker winery has been sustaining/preserving viticulture for twelve generations in Zellenberg.
Committed to organic and environmentally friendly practices, we aspire to finely showcase the richness and the complexity of our terroirs through our wine.
The Jean Becker winery sits on the small village hill where it has been cultivating its history of renowned wine for over 400 years.
Established in Zellenberg in 1610, the Becker family is one of the oldest families in the wine-growing region in Alsace. Here, our wine-making tradition is passed on with respect for both older and future generations.

Around 1980, the siblings Martine, Jean-Philippe and Jean-François chose to shift towards a more sustainable and reasoned agriculture after noticing the richness and fragility of their exceptional wine heritage.
Later in 1999, they decided to turn their entire wine estate into organic agriculture despite the reluctant comments from fellow winegrowers. Their decision came with the conviction that their efforts to protect the vineyard, their wine and the environment were bearing fruits.
Exalted by the idea of progress since then, the siblings keep challenging the vineyard and the winery with a practice that now comes closer and closer to those of biodynamic agriculture. We experiment with new wine-making techniques in order to encourage a new approach to Alsace wines.
